STONEY NAKODA LANGUAGE RESOURCE RELEASE
This month, the Stoney Education Authority released historic Stoney Nakoda language learning resources. These materials include three picture books, a Level 1 textbook, flashcards, student assessments, a teacher's guide, and an alphabet coloring book. It also includes several digital resources: a 9,000-word web and mobile dictionary, a textbook-accompanying media player app, and a vocabulary-building app.
"Language and culture go hand-in-hand," Cherith Mark, the Language and Culture Coordinator for the Stoney Education Authority, told CBC. "You can't do one without the other. Like with cultural teachings, you have to know the language and understand it because most of the teachings are done in the language."
