Events Coordination Internship

Seeking self-starting, organized, and detail-oriented Events Coordinator Volunteer with interest in Native American issues. Experience or education in nonprofit management, hospitality, event planning, communication or logistics management preferred. Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills in English and must show initiative and professionalism.

Work will include assisting in the planning and preparation of various events and conferences, including language weekends, Rapid Word Collection workshops, and national conferences. The Events Coordination intern will be responsible for organizing, packing, and shipping materials for these.

Grants & Development Internship

Accepting applications for Spring 2020 | Location: Bloomington, IN (our main office)

Seeking a self-motivated grants and development volunteer with interest in Native American issues. Experience or education in fundraising, grant writing, marketing or development preferred. Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills in English, and must show initiative and professionalism.

The grants and development volunteer works closely with the grants and development manager on outreach, related tasks. Example projects include:

  • Donor data entry and database consolidation
  • Compile contact lists for fundraising events
  • Fundraising campaign execution and analysis
  • Update grants database, record all grants received and date
  • Research and identify grant programs, create fundraising roadmap
  • Generate proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations
  • Write reports to government, corporate, foundations and other funders
  • Special projects as needed

Public Relations Intern

Seeking self-starting, organized, and detail-oriented Public Relations Volunteer with interest in Native American issues. Experience or education in communications, writing or journalism preferred. Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills in English and must show initiative and professionalism.

Work will include producing promotional social media content, capturing photographs and videos for use in marketing materials and promotions, creating engaging blog and social media content, and other duties within marketing or other departments as assigned.

Linguistics Internship

Accepting applications for Spring 2020 | Location: Bloomington, IN (our main office)

The Linguistics Intern will work closely with Language Conservancy staff, instructors, and local partners to plan and implement several Summer Institutes.

Program assistants will work with Language Conservancy and local staff to coordinate one or more Summer Language Institutes taking place between May and August 2019. Applicants should be excellent communicators by phone and email as well as face to face. They should have a good grasp of Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite, and be willing to master Mailchimp, RegOnline, and additional computer-based programs as needed. Attention to detail and team or project management experience are required; Additional experience in media documentation (photo, audio, video), applied linguistics (recordings), teaching methodology, and program evaluation are a plus.

Each project requires pre- and post-institute support from our Bloomington, Indiana offices or remotely. Work offered will vary according to organizational needs, applicant availability and skill sets.

Housing stipend available for full-time interns in Bloomington. Travel, housing and meals provided for interns working on location.

IT Internship

Accepting applications for Spring 2020 | Location: Bloomington, IN (our main office)

Seeking part-time volunteer to aid in the creation of Native American language apps and online services.  Working knowledge of UI/UX design, Git, React,  Node.js, mobile programming, SQL and web server administration is a plus.  Candidate must be willing to work at least 15 hours a week.

Perform various tasks including augmented reality object targeting & database creation/administration, web/mobile application development, functional testing and code review.
