Project Development Intern

Seeking a self-starting, organized, and detail-oriented Project Development Intern with interest in Native American issues. Experience or education in nonprofit management, event planning, communication or research is preferred. Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills in English and must show initiative and professionalism.

The Project Development intern will be responsible for shaping the way our non-profit grows by researching and contacting prospective clients.

Work will include: researching partner organizations, reaching out to prospective clients, researching conferences, compiling data in Monday.com, planning, organizing travel details, and packing for various domestic and international conferences.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Internship, Unpaid

Experience:

  • Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)
  • event planning: 1 year (Preferred)
  • marketing: 1 year (Preferred)

Hours per week:

  • Flexible; likely between 3 – 10 hours/week
  • Must be within office hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm

Events Coordination Internship

Experience or education in nonprofit management, hospitality, event planning, communication or logistics management preferred. Work will include assisting in the planning and preparation of various events and conferences, including language weekends, Rapid Word Collection workshops, and national conferences. The Events Coordination intern will be responsible for organizing, packing, and shipping materials for these events.

Grants & Development Internship

Seeking a self-motivated grants and development volunteer with interest in Native American issues. Experience or education in fundraising, grant writing, marketing or development preferred. Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills in English, and must show initiative and professionalism.

The grants and development volunteer works closely with the grants and development manager on outreach, related tasks. Example projects include:

  • Donor data entry and database consolidation
  • Compile contact lists for fundraising events
  • Fundraising campaign execution and analysis
  • Update grants database, record all grants received and date
  • Research and identify grant programs, create fundraising roadmap
  • Generate proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations
  • Write reports to government, corporate, foundations and other funders
  • Special projects as needed
  • Make entries and consolidate into donor database
  • Execute and analyze fundraising campaigns

Public Relations Intern

Linguistics Internship

Accepting applications for Spring and Summer 2020 | Location: Bloomington, IN (our main office)

Seeking to fill multiple volunteer internship positions for processing large amounts of fieldwork data collected from various indigenous language projects.

These data collections will lead to extensive dictionaries, language learning textbooks, apps, and other media projects.

Work will include audio cutting, entry, analysis, and organization of collected data. Interns will work closely with our linguistic, textbook, and app development teams to steer all projects towards being culturally relevant and valuable tools for the learner communities.

Experience using Praat, Audacity, Google Sheets, Excel, SIL Fieldworks and/or Tshwane-Lex are a plus.

Summer Institute Program Assistant

Accepting applications for Spring and Summer 2020 | Location: Bloomington, IN (our main office)

Seeking to fill multiple part-time, temporary internship positions supporting the planning and implementation of the 2020 Lakota and Crow Summer Language Institutes.

Program Assistants will plan, organize, set up, and coordinate Institutes taking place between May and August 2020.

Applicants should be comfortable speaking on the phone and be oriented toward customer service. They should have a good grasp of Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite and be willing to master new programs including Mailchimp and Cvent. Attention to detail and a proven track record of team or project management are recommended. Additional experience in media documentation (photo, audio, video), applied linguistics (recordings), and social media marketing are desired.

IT Internship

Seeking part-time volunteer to aid in the creation of Native American language apps and online services.  Working knowledge of UI/UX design, Git, React,  Node.js, mobile programming, SQL and web server administration is a plus.  Candidate must be willing to work at least 15 hours a week.

Perform various tasks including augmented reality object targeting & database creation/administration, web/mobile application development, functional testing and code review.
