Anneen aydootamoo-ahd?  

 Dauphin River First Nation has recently partnered with TLC for the development of Anneen aydootamoo-ahd? which translates to What Are They Doing? in English. This children's book is designed to help early elementary and preschool children learn basic action verbs and nouns while practicing their reading and pronunciation of Ojibwe. We're very excited to support this community in developing language resources for the younger generation to help preserve the Ojibwe language. Anneen aydootamoo-ahd? will be available to community members by the end of this month! 

Enakamigak Gidakiiminaang now available in GIM's Bookstore

To celebrate Earth Day, GIM announced the release of a new Ojibwe picture book, Enakamigak Gidakiiminaang - What’s Happening on Mother Earth. A collaborative effort between artists, Elders, educators and their students resulted in this book of poetic wordplay and fun-sounding vignettes. The book invites readers to reflect on their ideas of "natural resources" and the gifts given by Mother Earth. Illustrations by Bineshii Rose Hermes-Roach highlight the thought-provoking phrases in this delightful picture book. Pick up your copy today in the GIM Bookstore!

Ojibwe Media Player

Grassroots Indigenous Multimedia has added a new book to the Ojibwe Media Player! Growing Potatoes—a delightful story that illustrates lessons learned about community and sharing by the daughter of a potato farmer—is the fifth installment in a series of books adapted for the interactive app. Designed for readers and language learners to follow along with their favorite Ojibwe picture books, the Media Player has the added bonus of being a digital resource for students of all ages.  Lakota Audio Series Vol. 2 

The long anticipated Lakota Audio Series Volume 2 language course will be available June 1!!! The Series continues with new lessons in food and drink vocabulary, coming and going verbs, time clauses, and much more. Lakota Audio Series Vol. 2 features 137 units (currently digital download only) and three instructional booklets that guide the listener through the Lakota language, developing conversational skills and word comprehension as they follow along. This Series is perfect for self-learners who wish to expand their Lakota skills. Lakota Audio Series Vol. 2 will be available for streaming on all major platforms including Amazon Prime, Google Play, and Apple Music. July 5-23: Lakota Summer Institute  

Pre-registration for the Lakota Summer Institute is NOW open to all language learners eager to learn Lakota! This event will be held in a hybrid format at BHSU Spearfish and is open to EVERYONE. Students will have the opportunity to enroll in communicative Lakota and grammar courses at the beginner and intermediate levels. Lakota language teachers can follow a teacher track to build upon their teaching and language skills. The beginner and teacher tracks will both be offered in-person and via Zoom, while the intermediate track will only be offered virtually. Interested students can register for LSI here. June 7-25: Crow Summer Institute 

Registration is still open for this year's Crow Summer Institute! Join Little Big Horn College, the Crow Language Consortium, and dozens of Crow learners and teachers at the 9th annual Crow Summer Institute (CSI). The institute will feature a learner track with beginner grammar and communicative Crow classes. Crow language teachers are also welcome to register for the teacher track and join other instructors in enhancing their teaching and language skills. This event will take place virtually via Zoom.
