The Alaskan Gwich’in Alphabet Coloring Book Is Here!

On March 24, the Gwich’in Social & Cultural Institute of Alaska (GSCIA) and Beaver Village Council announced the release of the Alaskan Gwich’in Alphabet Coloring Book.

This is a brand new book created through the language revitalization effort that includes Gwich’in Elders, first language speakers, language learners, and linguists to introduce new learners to their ancestral language. The book aims to promote language literacy and will be used at schools in the Yukon Flats and other areas. The team hopes to bring Dinjii Zhuh K’yàa into early-childhood education and daily use, creating a foundation for future generations of speakers.
