Virtual Lakota Language Weekend
RCAS Title VI Indian Education connected with LLC for the first partnered Virtual Lakota Language Weekend training on November 14-15. The event was geared toward parents, teachers, and students enrolled in Rapid City Area Schools. This was a unique event because of the engagement with K-12 age students. Thank you to Lakota teachers Alex Fire Thunder and Naomi Last Horse, and to everyone who participated and made this Language Weekend a community success!
TLC's Autumn Gala
This year, TLC hosted a virtual gala to acknowledge accomplishments achieved in languagerevitalization efforts. Despite this unprecedented year, the Indigenous communities we partner with in the US, Canada, and Australia have continued to work hard to develop new language materials for future generations. We are very grateful for those that donated during this fall campaign and participated in our raffle of prizes. Special thanks to Alex Fire Thunder for his musical performance and Thorny Games for their donation of their language game mystery box! Watch the recording of the event on the TLC Facebook page.
Stoney Language Project
The Stoney Language Project is in its final stages! We are very excited for the release of the picture books including I Saw a Skunk, The Buffalo and the Boat,What Are They Doing, the Stoney Alphabet Coloring Book, and the Level 1 textbook. Be the first to know when these language materials are released in the Stoney community by liking TLC's Facebook page.
