ICILDER Keynote Speaker: Sir Tīmoti Kāretu

It is with great honor that we announce Sir Tīmoti Kāretu as a Keynote Speaker for ICILDER 2023!


Sir Tīmoti Kāretu is a professor, translator, author, songwriter, and key figure of the Māori language revitalization movement. His achievements include:


• Served as the first Māori Language Commissioner.

• Admitted to the Knights Companion of The New Zealand Order of Merit (KNZM) in 2017.

• Recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement in 2020.

Families Celebrate Culture at Crow Summer Institute

Yavapai-Apache Nation Unveils Digital Dictionaries and Picture Books

On June 30, community members in Camp Verde’s Yavapai-Apache Nation came together for the release of digital Yavapai and Dilzhe'e Apache dictionaries, as well as two picture books, created in collaboration with The Language Conservancy.


The event featured traditional song and dance, as Elders and the next generation of speakers celebrated their language and culture.

We had the pleasure of working with five passionate interns this past month!
