The 3rd Edition New Lakota Dictionary and the Crow Dictionary have been named winners of the prestigious IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards in the Reference category!

Gold Winner: New Lakota Dictionary, 3rd Edition: Lakhotiyapi - English
Silver Winner: Crow Dictionary: Apsaalooke-English

The award program is administered by the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), recognizing excellence in book editorial and design, and is regarded as one of the highest national honors for independent publishers.

Pages of Knowledge: Alaska Science of Reading Symposium

On April 28 - 30, TLC attended the Alaska Science of Reading Symposium held in Anchorage, Alaska. TLC was honored to be able to showcase the language materials created from the collaboration with our Partners.

The symposium was attended by many Indigenous First Language speakers and educators who were interested in the Science of Reading - an ongoing field of study that examines evidence-based practices and research to determine the most effective way to teach reading. Presenters discussed the challenges of teaching reading and how to improve reading for children in education.

Exciting news! Crow Language Consortium (CLC), in collaboration with Little Big Horn College, is thrilled to announce that registration is open for Crow Summer Institute (CSI) 2023!

CSI 2023 offers two tracks:

• Learner Track (VIRTUAL): An intensive Crow language course for beginners. All are welcome!
• Teacher Track (IN-PERSON): Workshops hosted at Little Big Horn College in Crow Agency, MT. Discover resources and effective teaching methods to integrate Crow language into your curriculum.

• Session 1: June 26 - 30, 2023
• Session 2: July 10 - 14, 2023
